The sooner the better. That way, you will have plenty of time to research your trip, (and that is actually part of the fun!). By planning early you will be able to get exactly what you want. Some places are reserved as much as 12 to 18 months in advance for popular dates.

After all, this occasion is for the both of you. If only one of you is making all the decisions, you will feel guilty if things do not go perfectly. Conversely, if you do not take part in the planning you may end up dissatisfied.

Talk about your expectations and priorities so you can agree before you go about what you will splurge on and where you will try to save money. This way, you will avoid money hassles en route.

Pack a sense of humour
A little flexibility can go a long way on your trip. Expect that things may not always go as planned. Do what you can to remedy the situation, then relax and enjoy your holiday.
